Nexa Credit Union proudly continues its commitment to education and community development through its annual CPEA Grant initiative. Each year, the Credit Union provides financial support to members whose children have successfully passed the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) examinations, helping to ease back-to-school expenses and preparations.
The 2026 CPEA Grant distribution took place on August 18th at the Nexa Credit Union Head Office, with a cross-section of recipients in attendance. This year, a total of one hundred and thirty-five (135) grants were paid to members across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Mrs. Retesha Smith-Boyd, General Manager of Nexa Credit Union, stated, “At Nexa Credit Union, we are proud to support our members and their families while recognising the hard work and academic excellence of our young achievers. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to education and empowering the next generation, wherever their road leads.”
To qualify for the grant, parents must be members of Nexa Credit Union in good financial standing, with a minimum of three hundred dollars ($300.00) in fully paid-up shares. This ensures the programme continues to reward responsible financial management while supporting educational advancement.
Each grant totals three hundred dollars ($300.00) and is distributed in two parts:
- Two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) is deposited directly into the member’s account to assist with essential back-to-school expenses such as uniforms, books and stationery.
- Fifty dollars ($50.00) is allocated as a Smart Saver voucher, which is credited to the child’s existing Smart Saver account or used to open a new account, encouraging a culture of saving and wise financial habits from an early age.
Nexa’s Smart Saver account, designed for young savers, has also been renewed to reward students who achieve an A average on their report cards, allowing them to receive cash incentives deposited directly into their accounts at the end of each term.
This year, Nexa further enhanced the CPEA Grant through a valued partnership with Cathwills Stationery Services, offering all grant recipients a 15% storewide discount. This collaboration provides additional support to families as they prepare for the new academic year.
Nexa Credit Union remains dedicated to empowering its members and investing in the future of the nation’s youth through meaningful initiatives such as the CPEA Grant, which has been a longstanding programme at the Credit Union. On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management and Staff, Nexa extends congratulations to each recipient and wishes them continued success in all their endeavours.
