NEXA Credit Union is excited to announce its partnership with New Dimensions Steel Orchestra. The partnership between the two parties is for a three-year term beginning in 2023, giving NEXA title sponsorship of the steel orchestra. In return, New Dimensions will receive an annual grant to assist with defraying the cost associated with training and preparation for regular seasonal competitions, namely the annual Panorama held in Grenada.
Formerly the GUT Cooperative Credit Union until its recent rebrand this year, NEXA Credit Union is continuing to solidify its community ties and support arts and culture in Grenada Carriacou and Petite Martinique. NEXA’s support towards the steel orchestra is part of the Credit Union’s commitment to preserving and ensuring the longevity of the art form so that it is passed on and enjoyed by future generations. Moreover, it creates distinct opportunities for young and experienced musicians to showcase their talents and connect with individuals through music locally, regionally, and globally.
In the signing ceremony held at NEXA’s head office on July 17th, 2023, Mrs. Retesha Smith-Boyd, General Manager of NEXA Credit Union, stated, “We are thrilled to be the premier sponsor for the New Dimensions Steel Orchestra. NEXA Credit Union embraces our cooperative model of people helping people. We are happy to have this opportunity to give back to the communities in which we operate and to assist our young people as they engage in positive and uplifting activities. We are confident that the band will continue to perform to the highest standard and are rooting for them at this year’s Panorama.”
New Dimensions is one of Grenada’s leading steel orchestras with over thirty years of existence as a performing and competing steel orchestra in Grenada. Director/Secretary of New Dimensions Steel Orchestra, Ms. Nordia Roberts, expressed her excitement to complete the sponsorship agreement and anticipation for a fruitful partnership.
The NEXA Credit Union New Dimensions will join the other competing steel orchestras at the annual Panorama competition as they vie for the champion title. NEXA invites all its members and pan enthusiasts to attend Panorama on Saturday, August 12th, to cheer on its steel orchestra and participants.
